Master colorist Christopher Enlow of the renowned Angus Mitchell Salon ~ Beverly Hills brought his pro hairstyling skills to the runway at the recent GUESS by Marciano Fashion Show Presented by Citi at The Grove in Los Angeles on June 30.

With the help of Salon Director Elisa Bennett, along with a team of Paul Mitchell School students, Enlow led hairstyling for the fashion show using Paul Mitchell Express Style products including the ‘Worked Up’ Working Spray and the ‘Hold Me Tight’ Finishing Spray to keep soft, subtle beach-inspired waves in place. The hair styling was a perfect complement to the GUESS by Marciano sexy summer fashion line. The Angus Mitchell Salon ~ Beverly Hills recently launched a successful two-day Masters Hair Design Workshop instructed by Angus Mitchell (Owner & Artistic Director of the Angus Mitchell Salon ~ Beverly Hills and Co-owner of Paul Mitchell Systems) and Julian Perlingiero (International Educational Director for Paul Mitchell Systems and member of the Angus Mitchell Salon ~ Beverly Hills Education Team). The academy offered attendees personalized coaching, instructions and mentoring and advanced haircut design sessions from two of the salon industry’s greatest educators. The next academy sessions will be held at the salon September 23-24, 2012.

Angus Mitchell and his salon team are also gearing up for Paul Mitchell’s annual “Gathering” event in Las Vegas July 16-17 at the ARIA Resort & Casino. The event combines an agenda of artistic presentations, hands-on classes, experiential brand kiosks and a glamorous themed party for 3,000 passionate, artistic hairstylists and salon owners. On February 20–22, Caesars Palace rolls out the red carpet for the Paul Mitchell cosmetology schools’ 27^th Annual Caper event—a smoke- and alcohol-free, hands-on educational extravaganza expected to draw 200 staff members and more than 2,500 students (known as “Future Professionals”) who earned the trip by selling specially packaged Paul Mitchell products.

Angus Mitchell—the son of revolutionary hairstylist and hair care products legend Paul Mitchell, also the current Co-owner and Artistic Director of Education of John Paul Mitchell Systems and owner of the renowned Angus Mitchell ~ Salon Beverly Hills—is scheduled for an interview and hair demo on Fox’s More Show on local outlet KVVU-TV on February 23, airing at 6 p.m.

On February 21, Angus joins Paul Mitchell Co-founder and Chairman John Paul DeJoria, Global Artistic Director Robert Cromeans, and Paul Mitchell Schools Dean and Co-founder Winn Claybaugh for the Caper welcoming ceremony—followed by five high-energy fashion presentations featuring Paul Mitchell artists, educators, artistic directors, students, and staff.

Other top leaders in and out of the professional beauty industry will join in the three days of nonstop education, motivation, inspiration, and fashion. Special guests include: 21^st-century icon Robert Lobetta, a hairstylist, salon owner, product creator, marketer, teacher, public speaker, photographer, director, and artist; Tabatha Coffey, host of Bravo TV’s Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and Tabatha Takes Over; and comedian Kathy Buckley, who appeared at Caper last year and has spoken at numerous Paul Mitchell Schools. Born deaf and diagnosed as mentally retarded, Kathy shares a powerful message of courage and hope.

Led by school owner and Advanced Academy team member George Morales, the students will be featured in multiple presentations including MITCH—Paul Mitchell’s new line of men’s hair products—followed by an Awapuhi segment. The “pros” take over for the cutting, color, and style segments. Also that day, special surprise celebrity guests will appear.

“There is nothing like the tradition of Caper—future professionals who are passionate about hair, giving back, and have earned their way—come together for two days in Las Vegas. The energy and enthusiasm for those two days is unparalleled and something to look forward to every year,” says Angus.

Each year, thousands of future professionals and staff members from Paul Mitchell Schools donate their time, talent, and energy to support a variety of charitable causes. Over the past eight years, their annual, three-month-long “FUNraising” campaign has raised over $6 million through bake sales, fashion shows, cut-a-thons, grassroots outreach, and countless other activities and events to support the schools’ philanthropic efforts. In addition to hosting and participating in charity, fundraising (and FUNraising), and community support events, Paul Mitchell Schools run the nonprofit organization, Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation.

Angus also generously donated a historic coastal property in Hawaii on December 27, 2011, valued at $6.5 million to the Nature Conservancy. His father, Paul Mitchell, acquired the land in the late ’80s, during a critical time of his life.

Angus is gearing up to launch the Angus Mitchell Academy in Los Angeles to provide advanced education to licensed hairdressers and share creative new haircut, hair color, and creative trend collection artistry.

Angus’ message is simple: cut hair, develop your skills, be creative, and enjoy success. While he is fond of saying, “When all is said and done, it’s only hair,” encouraging his audience to find their own voice and sense of freedom always inspires cheers and standing O’s.

Angus Mitchell, son of the late hairdressing and Awapuhi hair care product icon Paul Mitchell was certainly in the spirit of giving this holiday season. The current Co-Owner & Artistic Director of Paul Mitchell Systems and owner of the Angus Mitchell Salon, Beverly Hills offered a generous donation of his historic Hawaiian coastal property at Kīholo Bay, valued at $6.5 million, to The Nature Conservancy.

The transfer of ownership was commemorated with small private ceremony on December 27, 2011.

The idyllic seven-acre parcel, located on the North Kona Coast of the Island of Hawaii, is home to historic fishponds and dozens of green sea turtles and was once part of the landholdings of King Kamehameha I. Angus’s father Paul Mitchell acquired the land in late 1980s while battling cancer. He passed away in 1989.

“Today’s dedication is really based on (my father) Paul’s love for the island,” says Angus. “Kīholo Bay is such a very special place. It’s one of the last pieces of land that has not been built upon and is something that I wanted to truly conserve, and have it be seen as the kings that had once roamed this land had left it.”

“I couldn’t be more grateful than to share this land with people to enjoy it for many years to come,” he adds.

Paying homage to the land’s Hawaiian ancestors, the cultural ceremony was performed by Dr. Sam Ohu Gon III, Senior Scientist and Cultural Advisor of The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, and “Uncle” Earl Regidor, Resort Cultural Ambassador of the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.

Following the exchange of the deed wrapped in a Hawaiian ti leaf bundle, the selected attendees formed a po`ai (circle) and joined hands during the pule (prayer) as a symbol of solidarity of thought.

This was the second donation by Angus of Hawaii lands once owned by his father– in 1999, he donated a significant cultural site, also located on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, to the Edith K. Kanaka’ole Foundation.

The Kīholo Bay parcel abuts Kiholo State Park and a few small private landholdings and is a culturally important site to native Hawaiians. Kīholo Bay is located along one of the most beautiful and remote stretches of coastline on the Big Island of Hawai‘I, which was once coveted by Hawaiian chiefs for its productive nearshore reefs and offshore fisheries, its fishponds and anchialine pools.

Now 41, the younger Mitchell has followed his father’s success into the hair care industry. He is the Owner of Angus Mitchell Salons and Co-Owner of John Paul Mitchell Systems & Schools, a multi-million dollar enterprise that trains future stylists and markets professional hair care products. He is married to Michelle Mitchell, Director of Business Development of the Angus Mitchell Companies.
