Innovative Long Beach, Calif. based independent label 37 Records is set to showcase a few of its most popular artists—singer-songwriter Cathy-Anne McClintock and alternative rockers The Gromble—at “Kindness,” a community-based fundraiser for BKindLB, a project of Leadership Long Beach.

A new anti-bullying themed video of Cathy-Anne ’s song “No Matter What”—originally recorded with Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea on her 2009 self-titled debut album—will debut at the event, which is designed to illuminate new ways people can “BKind” to each other, to ourselves and to the city of Long Beach.

“Kindness” takes place Saturday, March 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 604 Pine Avenue, Long Beach, California 90802. Tickets are $5 each.

Fashioned first as a folk song, the re-recording of “No Matter What” is a youth friendly pop-rocker featuring tracks by The Gromble and vocals by Chad Petree from rock alt band, Shiny Toy Guns. The emotional video (http://bit.ly/GXLhJY), about a young girl facing bullying after moving away from her best friend to a new city, was executive produced by Michelle Molina, CEO of PeaceBuilders and directed by Alec Watson for Larj Creative in Seattle. The clip stars Cathy-Anne McClintock and her daughter Tessa McClintock, Molina’s daughter Antonia Molina and Dreu Lambarena.

Tessa is a member of the young female band Hailey’z Comet, who along with singer Jenny Stockdale are slated to open the event’s live musical show for The Gromble. The shows are followed by the screening of the “No Matter What” video.

PeaceBuilders is in over 1,000 schools in North America. The other key organization involved in the “Kindness” Event is Grow, a creative movement aiming to pool the creative resources of the Long Beach community to help identify and meet the needs of the city – one need at a time.

Distinguished attendees include Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster, pop singer/ actress Alana Lee, Ken Stacey (former American Idol vocal producer), and more TBA.

Other major sponsors of “Kindness” include Millworks. Long Beach community organizations expected to attend include Visiting Angels, Autism in Long Beach and Long Beach Cinematheque.

Recently named Musical Group of the Year at the 2010 Los Angeles Music Awards and named one of Music Connection magazine’s Hot 100 Unsigned Bands & Artists of the year, 37 Records folk/americana/country singer-songwriter Cathy-Anne McClintock will kick-off 2011 with a performance with famed guitarist David Lindley at The Brixton South Bay in Redondo Beach, Calif., on January 7.

For the second consecutive year, 37 Records artist Cathy-Anne McClintock has been named one of Music Connection magazine’s Hot 100 Unsigned Bands & Artists of the year. But that’s not the only honor the popular industry magazine has bestowed upon the folk/americana/country singer-songwriter. Their review of her self-titled debut album has been named one of their Top 25 New Music Critiques of 2010 and will rerun in the December 2010 issue, along with the Hot 100 honor.

McClintock’s emergence as a solo artist is simply the latest triumph in a career that would make anyone want to “live like that.” Shortly after the Vancouver born and raised performer and her older sister Trisha Gagnon formed their bluegrass band Tumbleweed in the 90s, they played their first show on a slate in British Columbia with superstars Dolly Parton and Dwight Yoakam at Music 91, a government sponsored road show designed to boost tourism.

McClintock Ready To Perform At Guero’s Taco Bar March 20
And Lucky Run Ranch House March 21

Unofficially part of South By Southwest (SXSW), americana/folk/country singer-songwriter Cathy-Anne McClintock is ready to make a splash on Austin, Texas.

On Saturday, March 20 she will take the stage at Guero’s Taco Bar (on Congress Ave). Doors open at 9 a.m. and Cathy-Anne performs at 1 p.m. The show is free. Also performing are Debbie Forrest, Lee Alexander & Co., Matt Harlan and DAN DyER.

The next day (March 21), McClintock will perform at Lucky Run Ranch House in Richmond. Joining her will be Steven McClintock and Savannah Berry. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with Savannah Berry kicking things off at 7 p.m. and Cathy-Anne McClintock following at 7:30 p.m. There is a $15 suggested donation at the door.

She has recently performed at Hollywood hot spots The Viper Room (sold-out show!) and Whiskey A Go Go.

McClintock has been nominated for 2010 LA Music Awards in the Americana/Folk Category and she also recently received word she is a finalist in the 6^th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA). She is nominated in the Best Group/Duo category for her duet with Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea, “No Matter What.”

McClintock was also recently named as one of Music Connection magazine’s Hot 100 Unsigned Bands & Artists of the year (December 2009 issue) and has been picked as Women’s Radio Hot Up n Comer 2010. 

Since moving to Southern California to focus on her solo career several years ago, she established herself as a formidable performer with gigs at hotspots like Genghis Cohen, The Mint, Kulaks, Hallenbecks and various special events, including Laguna Beach’s Pageant of the Masters, Sunset Serenade Series, Far West Folk Alliance, Canadian Music Week and the popular folk series The Living Tradition.  At a particularly memorable gig at the House of Blues on Sunset, she opened for Canadian Celtic rockers Great Big Sea for an audience comprised of fellow Canadians; one of the highlights was Russell Crowe sitting in and singing a few Johnny Cash tunes with the band.

Tumbleweed enjoyed an incredible ten year run that included playing major folk and country festivals throughout Canada, performing in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Switzerland, doing private shows for bigwigs like Rupert Murdoch and playing special engagements for thousands of schoolchildren. They were also winners of British Columbia’s Best Country Group, Best Country CD and nine time winners of B.C.’s Best Bluegrass Group.

McClintock Nominated For International Acoustic
Music Award For Her Duet With Alan Doyle of
Great Big Sea, “No Matter What”

Fresh off a sold-out show at LA hotspot The Viper Room, Americana/Folk singer-songwriter Cathy-Anne McClintock will continue making a splash on the music scene with two more SoCal shows.

On Thursday, February 25, McClintock will take the stage at Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. and also performing are Amy Heffernan, John Enghauser, Paul Nagi, Butcher Jones, Blues Gone South, Hopdown Bilby Band, Candyman 187 & The Havenotz, and The Regulators. Cover is $10.

Next, on Tuesday, March 2, McClintock will perform at The Dakota Lounge in Santa Monica along with Annaliese Schiersh, Emanuela Bellezza, Stefani Scovolo, Alissa Moreno and Alina Smith. Cover is $5 and the music starts at 8:30 p.m.

McClintock will also participate in Canadian Music Week in Toronto, Ontario, performing at the Cadillac Lounge on Friday, March 12 at 8:15 p.m. The show is presented by KX 96 FM.
