Archer Joins An All-Star Lineup At The QuickCheck New Jersey Festival of Ballooning Sunday, July 27
JERSEY CITY, N.J. – In what is shaping up to be a very exciting summer for Evie Archer (www.eviearcher.com), the fast rising New Jersey based pop songstress has just received her second Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) nomination in the Pop category for her song “Bad Behavior.”
Earlier, she scored a nod in the same category for her popular Adult Contemporary single “Close To You.”
The accolades don’t stop there. Archer is also up for two nominations by the LA Music Critic Awards, as announced by Los Angeles Music Examiner Bob Leggett. Her debut album Life In Sand is in the Best CD Female category with new recordings by Jo Dee Messina, DiDi Benami, Melissa Polinar and Alisha Zalkin.
The singer’s video for “Close To You” is nominated for Best Video in a category with Elyse & The Aftermath, Frank Shiner, Alisha Zalkin, Olivia Millerschin, Lucy Schwartz and Todd Carey.
Archer is set to headline at the QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning (http://www.balloonfestival.com/) at Solberg Airport in Readington Township, N.J. on Sunday, July 27.
Archer’s approximately 45-minute set on the Main Entertainment Stage will begin at 5:45 p.m. Her performance is part of an all-star weekend entertainment lineup that includes all-star artists from several generations, including Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, America, 3 Doors Down and Hot Chelle Rae. Archer’s participation in the festival is particularly appropriate because she grew up (as Melissa Rosenberg) in Readington Township, where the event is taking place.
Archer broke through the Adult Contemporary (A/C) music charts this year with her “Close To You”, which in the top 30 on both the Mediabase and BDS A/C charts. She was recognized by both as the #1 most active new independent A/C artist.
Life in Sand is available on ITunes, CD Baby, and Amazon.
The Examiner gave it a rave review, noting that” “Archer pours her heart out and you can hear it in the lyrics, the aching tone in her vocals, and in the emotional dynamic of each song.” The album was introduced by Archer to a packed house at a CD release and industry showcase party at The Cutting Room in New York City.
Archer made her radio debut last holiday season with “On Christmas Day,” which played on Sirius XM (as well as many other radio stations) and all Macy’s stores throughout the country. It was also the basis for a moving YouTube video by Full Circle Home, a military spouse support organization.

The lead single from the new album, also released on Dark River Inc. , has reached #1 on the Mediabase A/C independent label most active release rankings. The track is also at #32 (indicating a bullet) on the Mediabase A/C chart, #34 on the BDS A/C chart (where it is also #3 A/C New and Active) and #28 on the BDS A/C Indicator chart. The single will also be playing in Forever 21 retail stores Nationwide.
Archer, who also recently released a passionate and hope-filled video for “Close To You,” will be headlining a highly anticipated music industry record release party and showcase at The Cutting Room in New York City on Thursday, May 8.
Last fall, the singer opened for famed Irish folk/pop great Paul Brady and singer/songwriter Tyler Hilton at prominent East Coast venues (including The City Winery in New York City), and was a headliner at Philadelphia’s Tin Angel. QUICKLY RISING ON THE BDS AND MEDIABASE
A/C CHARTS
Evie Archer (www.eviearcher.com) has taken an amazing yet maddening journey toward her emergence as a singer/songwriter – a time she chronicles throughout the personal and heartfelt songs on her debut album Life In Sand.
The album is an ode to the power of resilience. Archer is done being a starving artist and is now eating more organicfoods, cutting out sugarand starches. The future is looking pretty optimistic – more kindred in spirit to Archer’s uptempo, piano driven romantic pop/rocker “Close To You” and the lighthearted “In The Dark” than to some of the darker themed gems that also populate Life In Sand.
“Close To You” recently made a powerful single week leap from #67 to #41 on the BDS (Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems) A/C Chart, and a single week jump on the Mediabase A/C chart from #82 to #54. It has also reached #4 on the Mediabase AC Independent Label Releases chart.
The album was produced by Martin Briley, a renowned British singer/songwriter who’ spenned songs for Celine Dion, *NSYNC, Pat Benatar, Kenny Loggins and Gregg Allman.
Foreshadowing the years that found her working a variety of jobs and studying numerous things before returning to her passion of music, Archer shifted majors frequently at Princeton University.
Walking the same halls as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jimmy Stewart, filmmaker Ethan Coen and Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, she made an adventure of academia on her way to becoming an Ivy League grad. She began in accelerated pre-med, switched to economics, then music before settling on English Lit. She loved Shakespeare, but that tattoo of a muted post horn on her forearm is a symbol from another book – Thomas Pynchon’s 60’s novella “The Crying of Lot 49.”
“The symbol appears throughout the book and the main character Oedipa uses it everywhere,” says Archer. “She doesn’t know whether it’s a joke or aworldwideconspiracy or if she’s just insane. My firstyearsout ofcollege, that’s how I felt about my life, confused about what my path should be. I want to be a successful singer/songwriter who, through emotional honesty, helps people connect with their feelings and be their authentic selves.”
