80s ICONS JOSIE COTTON AND JOAN JETT HOOK UP AT LA PRIDE FESTIVAL
PHOTO CAPTION: Together at last! Iconoclast rockers Josie Cotton and Joan Jett hang out backstage at the LA Pride Festival in West Hollywood on Saturday, June 9th . Both artists topped the charts in the 80s, but had never met before sharing the bill at the event. A massive audience was reminded why they love rock n’ roll as these two music pioneers blasted their hits as well as new tunes.
Cotton’s August release of her new record Invasion of the B-Girls (Scruffy Records) features cover versions of B-movie theme songs from the 60s and 70s and follows on the paws of Jett’s first CD in 10 years. Still rebels, with claws intact, if it’s up to these faster pussycats this could very well be the year of the cat. Meow!

]]>Josie Cotton , the ’80s pop icon—who caused a stir among religious conservatives and the then-uptight gay community in New York–is happy to declare, once and for all, yes, Johnny is not only queer, he is flamin’, as she gets set to perform on the WAMU Mainstage at the 2007 LA PRIDE Festival on Saturday, June 9th at 7:45 PM .
The musical performances for 2007 were voted on by vistors of the LA PRIDE website over the winter and include such notable acts as Berlin and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts . Josie will be performing the mega-hit “Johnny Are You Queer” as well as new material.
Last year Josie returned from self-imposed music industry exile with Movie Disaster Music , her most critically acclaimed release to date. With momentum in full gear, Josie is set to release Invasion of the B Girls , a campy collection of B movie theme songs from movies such as Faster Pussycat Kill Kill , She Devils On Wheels , and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls .
