EMERGING FOLK-ROCK ARTIST SIERRA WEST EARNS HER FIRST OUT MUSIC AWARD (OMA) NOMINATION FOR THE TITLE TRACK TO HER NEWLY RELEASED EP ‘HOLD YOUR FIRE’
Rising folk-rock singer-songwriter Sierra West (www.sierrarocks.com) is celebrating her 2012 Out Music Award (OMA) nomination for Best Folk/Country Song for her song and title track to her new EP, “Hold Your Fire.” Sierra and other nominees will contend for top honors at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casinoin Las Vegas on December 14-16, 2012.
The OMAs, together with its parent organization the LGBT Academy of Recording Arts (LARA), honors individuals who create and produce music with a message of inclusion, equality, and creative achievements. LARA and the OMAs support out and proud LGBT artists and performers in the entertainment and music industries.
“Hold Your Fire” along with her current radio single “In Your Hands,” were also recently nominated for a 2012 Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) forBest Folk/Acoustic Song. Sierra will also attend the Red Carpet event in Hollywood, Calif. on November 15 at the Fonda Theater.
Hold Your Fire was released August 2012 via Sierra’s publishing company 21 Monkeys Music. Three of the five songs on the EP were penned by Sierra at one of the “Writing It Up In The Garden” artist retreats hosted several times a year byNerissa Nields, a member of the folk band The Nields.
The EP also nabbed a coveted spot on the AOL Music CD Listening Party and reviewed by Shakefire which gave it high marks and wrote that “Sierra has a very melodic voice; she rides the track easily with what sounds like little to no effort. With the acoustic guitar as Sierra’s choice of instrument, it gives the album a live in concert feel…Her voice comes through crystal clear on all the tracks.”
Steadily building up a following in the LGBT community, Sierra was recently spotlighted in interviews with Queer Women in Music Boston as well as theLezgetreal and CherryGrrl.
Her next upcoming show will be at The Go Lounge in San Diego on October 25 as part of their Homegrown Free Live Concert series.

Hold Your Fire, produced by drummer/producer Lorne Entress at Signature Sounds studio in Connecticut, was released August 2012 via Sierra’s publishing company 21 Monkeys. Three of the five songs on the EP were penned by Sierra at one of the “Writing It Up In The Garden” artist retreats hosted several times a year by Nerissa Nields, a member of the folk band The Nields. “In Your Hands,” the first single off of the album, is currently playing on the Americana radio circuit.

The show also raised awareness for non-profit organizations Right Turn (www.right-turn.org) an innovative, Arlington, Mass.-based program that offers intensive outpatient and residential treatment services in a uniquely creative environment, and Helping Hands (www.monkeyhelpers.org), the only non-profit organization in the world that raises and trains capuchin monkeys to provide in home assistance to people living with spinal cord injury or other mobility impairments.
Sierra’s work with Helping Hands inspired the name of Sierra’s publishing company, 21 Monkeys Music. Attendees who offered donations that evening were given a free download card for the EP.

Emerging folk-rock singer/songwriter Sierra West (www.sierrarocks.com) is gearing up for the official release of her second EP, Hold Your Fire, and celebrating with a show at one of Boston’smost respected music venues, Club Passim (formerly Club 47), on August 14, 2012 at 8 p.m. Lloyd Thayer, who also featured on Sierra’s previous EP ‘Rocks,’ will open the evening.
Sierra’s approach to performing is to create an intimate environment in which to communicate with her audience. Her performing history includes a month-long tour in the Midwest, playing restaurants, bars, coffeehouses, colleges, and two tours in Northern California, including a ten-gig trip through the Santa Cruz-Monterey region that grew out of a single house concert.
Hold Your Fire, produced by drummer/producer Lorne Entress at Signature Sounds studio in Connecticut, includes the plaintive and heartfelt “It’s About Time,” which is currently playing on the Massachusetts R&R charts.
