Sally Steele, the “Publishing Queen of Rock n’ Roll” and Founder/CEO of VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine is gearing up to host the first annual awards show VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine Awards on Sunday, August 22 at the Las Vegas Hilton honoring local and legendary artists. Aptly themed “I Wanna Rock,” the inaugural event will culminate with a rare performance by lady rock icon Lita Ford – who will claim the award for ‘Rock Goddess Of The Universe’—along with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider and many others.
Steele will stop by The Morning Blend (KTNV-TV) on Wednesday, August 18 at 9 a.m. for an interview surrounding the event. During the segment, local rock sensation Left Standing –nominated for both the Best Vegas Rock Band and Vegas Stars of Tomorrow awards– will perform a song from their latest album, A Brand New Day.
On Thursday, August 19, Sally will be accompanied by rock legend Ron Keel for an exclusive appearance on Las Vegas’ Channel 8 Morning News (KLAS-TV) during the 6 a.m. hour. Steele’s media blitz also landed her a feature story in the Las Vegas Review Journal this past Sunday.

The show will also feature a dozen local awards including Best Rock Band, Best Punk Band and Best Metal Band. Snider will receive the Rock n’ Roll Savior Award; Lemmy will accept the VEGAS ROCKS! Lifetime Legend Award; The Scorpions will receive the Rock Group Lifetime Achievement honor; Flavor Flav will get the Best Rock Clock in the Universe Award; Hughes will accept the Inspirational Icon Award.
Other appearances will be made by Paul Shortino (Rough Cut/ Quiet Riot); Jake E. Lee (Ozzy); Ron Keel (Keel); Jimmy Crespo (Aerosmith); and Otis Day (from Otis Day and The Knights from “Animal House”).
Celebrities set to present, perform or attend include Thomas Ian Nicholas from the “American Pie” films, who is also a musician; Kerry Simon (Celebrity Chef); Gregg Giuffria (Giuffria); Steel Panther and Zowie Bowie. Local band Sin City Sinners have also just been announced as the official houseact for the event.

The first-ever VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine Awards will be held Sunday, August 22, 2010 and will take place inside the original home of rock, The Elvis Showroom at the Las Vegas Hilton. Honoring local and legendary rock artists, the show, themed “I Wanna Rock,” will feature an all-star jam capped off with a performance by Dee Snider.
The event marks the six year anniversary of VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine and will be Las Vegas’ own first real rock awards show, hosted by the “Publishing Queen of Rock n Roll” and VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine Founder/CEO, Sally Steele.
“I wanted to bring Las Vegas its own, true rock awards. We’ve been fighting to keep rock n’ roll in the mainstream media for six years now,” Steele says. “We’re not here to keep up with the flavor of the month; we’re here to celebrate rock n’ roll, whether the artist had a hit ten years ago or are on the charts today doesn’t matter. They have a place in Vegas Rocks! and at this event.”
The VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine Awards is presented in conjunction with Rick White, Vice President of the Las Vegas Hilton and Music Industry legend Jerry Greenberg. Steele comments, “We are very excited about holding the show in the original home of rock n’ roll, The Elvis Showroom at the Hilton. It makes it that much more special. Rick White made this all possible, along with all the great people at the Las Vegas Hilton.”

“I feel I can do the show justice, from being involved in rock n’ roll all my life,” Steele added. “I was taking pictures of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple when I was 13. I’ve dedicated my life to being a fan and also an entertainer. I started the magazine to keep the music I care about alive and loud and let the world know what’s happening in rock n’ roll and Las Vegas today.”
