LOS ANGELES – The use of the word “Vape” to describe your enjoyment of e-cigs is no longer just a cool colloquialism!
In an announcement reflecting the increasing power and popularity of the ever-expanding global phenomenon of vaping, The Oxford Dictionaries named “Vape” 2014′s Word of the Year.
Oxford defines the verb “to inhale and exhale the vapour produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device.” It was added to the dictionary in August. “Vape” can also be used as a noun meaning the actual device used for vaping, also known as an e-cigarette. According to research conducted by Oxford Dictionaries editors, the use of the term more than doubled in 2014 over the previous year. “You are thirty times more likely to come across the word ‘vape’ than you were two years ago,” Oxford explained on the OxfordWords blog announcing the decision. LOS ANGELES- VapeRev (www.vaperev.com), one of the nation’s leading forces in the fast growing global shift from traditional cigarettes to vaping, recently had the honor of having District 58 California Assembly Member Cristina Garcia visit its Cerritos, Calif.-based store and facility to demonstrate how they are playing a role in and impacting their community – while also changing the lives of ex-smokers worldwide.
“I am exploring the idea of authoring consumer protection legislation in the vaping industry and this educational visit was very informative and a good first step in understanding the industry,” Garcia said. “I hope to work with the industry and all the stakeholders to work on legislation that will keep consumers safe,” Garcia concluded.
Chief Communications Officer Amber Lee gave Garcia a tour of VapeRev’s retail store and explained how the company has helped thousands of people make the switch from smoking to vaping.

VAPEREV CITES KEY STATS THAT EXPLAIN
ONGOING EFFORTS TO BAN E-CIGS AND VAPING
LOS ANGELES – As extensive campaigns to ban e-cigarettes and curtail the growing global phenomenon of vaping continue, a lot of misinformation is being disseminated by the tobacco industry that is the most threatened by their success.
In a new article posted on their website, VapeRev (www.vaperev.com) – the fast growing Southern California-based vape shop and distribution company that is a groundbreaking force in the worldwide cultural phenomenon – points out important financial statistics that undercut traditional arguments and shine a light on the real reasons behind the ban campaigns.
The post (http://www.vaperev.com/blog/why-do-e-cigarette-bans-exist/) begins with several important foundational facts from the forefront of the e-cig trend, starting with the fact that more than 43 million Americans smoke, and those that do, purchase more than 13 billion packs of cigarettes each year. In the U.S., the average cigarette tax is $1.53 per pack, and in 2014, $24.9 billion is expected to be received by the U.S. as a result of tobacco taxes.
Other important stats include the fact that tobacco use costs the U.S. more than $133 billion in direct medical care and more than $156 billion in lost productivity each year. Smoking is also the number one preventable cause of death in the U.S., killing over 1,200 people per day. Perhaps the most surprising revelation in the article is: people who attempt to quit smoking without professional help are approximately 60 percent more likely to report success if they use an e-cigarette, rather than over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapies or willpower alone.
The article then asks the key question, “So why do people want to ban e-cigarettes?”
It’s all about Big Tobacco and their threatened profits: “As e-cigarettes continue to rise in popularity, the e-cig industry also becomes a bigger threat to the abundance of money attached to tobacco. With practically limitless financial resources, Big Tobacco willingly funds ‘Anti-Ecig’ campaigns and pays lobbyists to promote their efforts in eliminating the technology they’re up against.”
Combine that with the fact that government officials are losing billions in tobacco tax revenue each year, and the reasons for the pushback are very clear.
The article explains that vaping “is a direct avenue to achieve exactly what the FDA and CDC are striving for” – namely, the goal of American society enjoying healthy, smoke-free lives and a societal reduction in smoking overall. It points out however, one of the ongoing challenges in public perception: “Without conclusive case studies to outline the affects of vaping over a 10, 20 or even 30 year period, the FDA and CDC will not budge on their stance against e-cigs.”
The result: Big Tobacco is left with plenty of time to continue their mission of defeating the e-cigarette industry while allowing the population to suffer from smoke related illnesses.
The good news, the VapeRev article continues, is since the production of new technology can’t be stopped, and Americans continually seek a better alternative to smoking, the e-cig industry itself isn’t going away. Before concluding the article cites the Preamble to the Constitution and leads readers to wonder, “How does banning e-cigarettes, based on a current lack of understanding, or before exploring their potential, ‘promote the general welfare’?”

Eric Silverman and Andres Gomez are the personalities behind Juice by Numbers. Every number represents a different delicious flavor, with the latest Juice By Numbers e-liquid falling in at #7. Tony Riva and Danny Redburn of RnD are excited to finalize the creation of their latest juice flavor. The public will get to help pick the name for RnD’s fourth flavor, which is a delicious strawberry shortcake blend that’s being released at ECC.
Jason Davis and Robert Sage of Midas have many things in store for ECC attendees this year, including several daily giveaways of their complete sixteen-flavor juice line. With the quality ingredients and countless time put into creating each of their amazing flavors, VapeRev urges all ECC patrons to meet the Midas team and enjoy sampling their extensive variety of e-liquids.
Matt and Will of ReHAB give 5 percent of every sale back to the indigent recovery centers located throughout Orange County, and have since day one. They also plan to promote Instagram participation with ECC attendees as a way of submitting to the ReHAB Vapors giveaways taking place each day.
The owner of Mythic Haze, CJ Lewis, is excited to release his new flavor, Apollo, at ECC. “It’s a banana cake flavor which upon vaping, you will experience a ripe banana inhale with a warm cream cake finish that will leave everyone wanting more,” says Lee. “He will be giving away bottles of 120mL juice of the patron’s choice, as well.”
Hansel Delacruz and his team at Planet Of The Vapes are coming all the way from Sacramento to attend ECC this year. They will be releasing five new juice brands by Liquid Lineup, along with introducing their Caesar RBA (rebuildable dripping atomizer) to the public for the first time.
The BoilerMaker Vapor juice brand will be making its debut at ECC this year. “We are honored that they chose to release their brand alongside us and we’re excited to see the community’s response,” says Lee. Doug Hughes, Brent Brunner, and Jeff Brookes collaborated to develop this new juice line. Doug specializes in the manufacturing, Brent is an expert at branding and Jeff is a trained chef and leads the product development. They are releasing their very first three flavors, one of which is named Hammer, and consists of a hazelnut toffee flavor. It is very decadent and creamy without being overly rich. Anvil is a custard flavor. It’s very creamy, but it is also unique due to the ingredients which were utilized. Anvil doesn’t call for some of the commonly used custard flavor ingredients, in fact, it’s unlike anything else in this regard. The Chisel is a Black Currant Chocolate Merlot. The Merlot adds a different twist that will be a new and exciting experience for discerning palettes.
In addition, VapeRev will be releasing various new “mods” (vaping devices) at this year’s ECC. From Caravela Mods (Portugal) are the “Silver Series” Caravelas, which include a Vela Latina & Caravela Drip-Tip, all made of solid silver; and the stainless steel Caravela Drip-Tanks, which also include a Caravela Drip-Tip.
New from Luxe Mods (U.K.) are The Luxe Chocolate Mods, which include “dedicated” 18350, 18490 & 18650 battery tubes; The Luxe Copper & Luxe Brass Hybrid Drippers, which will be available as an 18350, 18490 or 18650 battery tube, and complete complete with the Luxe RDA & Luxe Drip-Tip.
From Ritual Machine (U.S.) comes the Zombi Mod, which is available in stainless steel or brass and is a dedicated 18650 device.
BDM (Germany) has produced the “jewelry-like” Silver Cast & Gold-Plated Silver Cast Drip-Tips, all of which feature intricate design work and detail.
VapeRev is also excited about having giveaways each day of ECC. Patrons can win by posting on Instagram, purchasing products at the VapeRev booth, or by providing their email address for VapeRev’s weekly Newsletter.
On Friday, the giveaway item will be the White Velvet Luxe, by Luxe Mods (U.K.), an 18650 mechanical mod with chocolate accents (“chocolate” is a unique LuxeMods finish); the winner will be announced at 7 p.m. Friday night. The Saturday giveaway will be the Droplet- the first device from the unreleased Water Series byElement Mods (U.S.). it is an 18350 and 18490 mod (comes as an 18350 but includes a “dedicated” 18490 tube as well) with a special ECC finish. Notably, it is not a series production device. The winner will be announced at 8 p.m. on Saturday night. The Sunday item is the Skeleton Key by Skeleton Key Mech (U.S.), which is an 18350, 18490 and 18650 ready device in a Limited “Five Pawns” Edition. The winner will be announced at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
