This Holiday Season
The only show of its kind on the Vegas Strip, “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show” will be spotlighted on the popular segment “The Vegas Minute,” airing on KTLA in Los Angeles, KSWB in San Diego and KFVE in Honolulu on Thursday, December 17. Check local listings for airtime.
The dedicated segment highlights Sandy Hackett, his wife, producer/singer/songwriter Lisa Dawn Miller, along with the Rat Pack gang shooting footage in the historic Buddy Hackett Suite at the Sahara–– the same suite where his late father and legendary comedian Buddy Hackett held accommodations during his heyday in the 60s and 70s. This was also the first time Sandy has visited the location since his beloved father was there. Sandy comments, “I miss the smell of Hot Dogs when Dad was there.”
“Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show” made its official debut on November 19– just in time for the holidays– at the Sahara Hotel & Casino’s Congo Room in Las Vegas, offering a fresh and exciting take on the comedic and musical legacy of the Rat Pack. The production, which runs nightly performances at 7 p.m.*, is produced by Sandy Hackett, a powerhouse veteran writer/producer/actor and son of legendary comedian Buddy Hackett, along with his wife, producer/singer/songwriter Lisa Dawn Miller.
As part of the show, the character of Frank Sinatra (played by David DeCosta) sings the song “For Once In My Life,” written by the late legendary songwriter Ron Miller, also the father of Lisa Dawn Miller. As a special holiday treat, adoring audiences are even more blown away in the exclusive run of holiday shows when Lisa herself makes a guest appearance following the number to perform another of her father’s gems and Christmas fave, “One Little Christmas Tree.”
Also to celebrate the holiday season, Lisa and the Rat Pack cast performed to a packed house at The Big Broadcast of 2009 in the Las Vegas Hilton showroom on December 12 in honor of U.S. troops.
The stellar cast includes Sandy Hackett in the role of Joey Bishop with Frank Sinatra being portrayed by the incomparable David DeCosta. The mega talented Doug Starks plays Sammy Davis, Jr. and newcomer Tony Basile fills the shoes of Dean Martin. Buddy Hackett himself is the voice of God, thanks to a voiceover recorded before he passed. Music Directors Joey Singer and Joseph Spraker lead the show’s fine tuned orchestra. Director Billy Karl collaborated with the creative team, including Technical Director Mark Matson, Art Director Jeanne Quinn, and Producers Sandy Hackett and Lisa Dawn Miller.
