Jack Oliver, (President of The Beatles label, Apple Records,1969-1971) said, “On Watercolor Day, Seth Swirsky’s irresistibly melodic tunes are in full bloom. He has the remarkable ability to capture the sounds and vibe of 60s and 70s pop music and lay it before us as something new. A treat for those of us who love pure pop music from that era.”
”Watercolor Day is a sonic bouquet of delicious melodies, melt-in-your-mouth harmonies, warm butterscotch guitars that jangle and shine. Guaranteed to raise a smile!” exclaimed Susanna Hoffs of the pop group, The Bangles.
For Swirsky, Watercolor Day is a true state of mind. “Every day is a watercolor day, different feelings, different emotions all running together as greens and blues run together in a watercolor painting.” he says.
Some taste-making pop music blogs are enthusiastically praising Watercolor Day. Powerpopaholic.com says, “This fantastic album is pure summer sweetness distilled and I am proud to list it in my year end top ten.”
The premiere Harry Nilsson site, For The Love Of Harry, commented, “For his second solo album, 2010′s Watercolor Day, Swirsky offers this absolutely winning tribute to Harry Nilsson entitled, “(I Never Knew You) Harry,” which is filled to the brim with Nilsson-esque harmonies, references and vibes.”
Absolutepowerpop.com said: “It almost goes without saying that Watercolor Day is an easy top 10 of ’10 candidate for the creative pop genius who made up one-half of The Red Button.”
Swirsky spent years as a staff songwriter for EMI, writing a number of global hits for a startling variety of artists, including Taylor Dayne (“Tell it to My Heart”), Al Green (“Love is a Beautiful Thing”), Rufus Wainwright , Jane Weidlin, Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson amongst others. He has garnered more than 30 gold and platinum records and numerous ASCAP songwriting awards.
