Swirsky’s Watercolor Day’ – Which Has Been Called
‘The First Great Power Pop Record Of 2010’ –
Grabbed The #1 Spot At WUVT’s Top 200 Chart And Adds List

Seth Swirsky’s critically-acclaimed solo album Watercolor Day is the much talked-about from the hit songwriter and co-leader of the acclaimed, British Invasion-minded, The Red Button. On Saturday, July 24, the modern day Indie-pop genius will treat long-time and new fans alike to a special performance at The Joint (8771 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035) at 9 p.m., part of L.A.’s International Pop Overthrow Festival (IPO). 

Seth will perform with his band The Melancholy Rainbow made up of the L.A. pop  scenes “who’s who” of stellar musicians including Nelson Bragg and Probyn Gregory of Brian Wilson’s Band; Brian Kassan (formerly he Wondermints) and Rick Gallego on bass (co-producer of Watercolor Day and member of Cloud Eleven).

Watercolor Day continues to rack up stellar reviews from music media, along with music-industry tastemakers and fans. Influential pop critic John M. Borack declared “Seth Swirsky’s ‘Watercolor Day’ is the first great power pop record of 2010” in his recent album review in Goldmine Magazine.

Renowned film director, Cameron Crowe, is a huge fan of the record himself: “Watercolor Day is a gorgeous pop puzzle, and every piece is perfection.  It’s a rainy day classic, and a sunny day masterpiece.”

Jack Oliver, (President of The Beatles label, Apple Records,1969-1971) said, “On Watercolor Day, Seth Swirsky’s irresistibly melodic tunes are in full bloom. He has the remarkable ability to capture the sounds and vibe of 60s and 70s pop music and lay it before us as something new. A treat for those of us who love pure pop music from that era.”

The CD’s title track, “Watercolor Day” is receiving spins at top AC and college radio stations around the country, and last week stole the #1 spot on WUVT’s Top 200 Chart and adds list for the Blacksburg, VA station located at Virginia Tech.

The influential Program Director Mike Marrone at XM/Sirius’s THE LOFT radio station declared on the air: “Watercolor Day is our record of The Summer!”

Swirsky spent years as a staff songwriter for EMI, writing a number of global hits for a startling variety of artists, including Taylor Dayne (“Tell it to My Heart”), Al Green (“Love is a Beautiful Thing”), Rufus Wainwright , Jane Weidlin of The Go-Gos, Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson amongst others. He has garnered more than 30 gold and platinum records and numerous ASCAP songwriting awards.

The “manic expressive” multi-talented artist has also created three best-selling books about baseball and takes pride in a very special collection of baseball memorabilia, some of which is on display at the Mets Museum in New York. Additionally, he’s just completed a documentary called “Beatles Stories,” which features reminiscences of the Fab Four from the likes of Sir Ben Kingsley, Graham Nash, Sir George Martin, Justin Hayward and over 60 more.
