Sally Steele, the “Publishing Queen of Rock n’ Roll” and Founder/CEO of VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine is gearing up to host the first annual awards show VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine Awards on Sunday, August 22 at the Las Vegas Hilton honoring local and legendary artists. Aptly themed “I Wanna Rock,” the inaugural event will culminate with a rare performance by lady rock icon Lita Ford – who will claim the award for ‘Rock Goddess Of The Universe’—along with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider and many others.

Steele will stop by The Morning Blend (KTNV-TV) on Wednesday, August 18 at 9 a.m. for an interview surrounding the event. During the segment, local rock sensation Left Standing –nominated for both the Best Vegas Rock Band and Vegas Stars of Tomorrow awards– will perform a song from their latest album, A Brand New Day.

On Thursday, August 19, Sally will be accompanied by rock legend Ron Keel for an exclusive appearance on Las Vegas’ Channel 8 Morning News (KLAS-TV) during the 6 a.m. hour. Steele’s media blitz also landed her a feature story in the Las Vegas Review Journal this past Sunday.

The VEGAS ROCKS! Magazine Awards marks the sixth anniversary of the magazine and takes place inside The Elvis Showroom at the Las Vegas Hilton at 8 p.m. (3000 Paradise Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89109). Tickets are $30 and available online at www.lvhilton.com or by calling (800) 222-5361.

A ‘Grand Rock n’ Roll Royal’ Red Carpet will precede the event from 6-7:30 p.m. featuring Vinny Appice of Black Sabbath, Dio, Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead, James Kottack from The Scorpions, Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Flavor Flav and many more. The show will also feature a dozen local awards including Best Rock Band, Best Punk Band and Best Metal Band. Snider will receive the Rock n’ Roll Savior Award; Lemmy will accept the VEGAS ROCKS! Lifetime Legend Award; The Scorpions will receive the Rock Group Lifetime Achievement honor; Flavor Flav will get the Best Rock Clock in the Universe Award; Hughes will accept the Inspirational Icon Award.

Other appearances will be made by Paul Shortino (Rough Cut/ Quiet Riot); Jake E. Lee (Ozzy); Ron Keel (Keel); Jimmy Crespo (Aerosmith); and Otis Day (from Otis Day and The Knights from “Animal House”).

Celebrities set to present, perform or attend include Thomas Ian Nicholas from the “American Pie” films, who is also a musician; Kerry Simon (Celebrity Chef); Gregg Giuffria (Giuffria); Steel Panther and Zowie Bowie. Local band Sin City Sinners have also just been announced as the official houseact for the event.
