The Multi-talented Artist Is Set To Perform At
The Mint On October 5 With His Band The Melancholy Rainbow
As Part Of A Special HMMA Showcase

Seth Swirsky’s critically-acclaimed solo pop album Watercolor Day – which has been called “The First Great Power Pop Record Of 2010” by John M. Borack in Goldmine Magazine has earned him a nomination for a Hollywood Music In Media Award (HMMA) for his CD’s title track in the pop category.

Swirsky, also known as the co-leader of the well-known British Invasion-minded pop duo The Red Button, will perform music from Watercolor Day on Tuesday, October 5 during a special performance at The Mint (6010 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035) at 8:50 p.m. as a part of a special HMMA Showcase.

Seth will perform with his band The Melancholy Rainbow, made up of a “who’s who” of L.A. pop  musicians including Nelson Bragg and Probyn Gregory of Brian Wilson’s Band, Brian Kassan (ex-The Wondermints) and Rick Gallego of Cloud Eleven.

Praise for Swirsky’s album have come in from all quarters of the cultural spectrum:

Renowned film director Cameron Crowe said: “Watercolor Day is a gorgeous pop puzzle, and every piece is perfection. It’s a rainy day classic, and a sunny day masterpiece.”

Jack Oliver, President of The Beatles label, Apple Records, from 1969-1971, said, “On Watercolor Day, Seth has the remarkable ability to capture the sounds and vibe of ’60s and ’70s pop music and lay it before us as something new. A treat for those of us who love pure pop music from that era.”

Program Director Mike Marrone at XM/Sirius’s LOFT declared on the air that “Watercolor Day is our record of the summer!” The influential station has played numerous cuts from the album everyday since May.

“If The Red Button’s big Beatlesy powerpop could be described in bold poster colours, then this – Seth’s second solo album – is, as the title implies, all summer pastels and watercolours. Slip this one on the personal stereo and head for the beach,” raved Paul Suggitt of the popular UK-based magazine, Shindig!

Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles said “Watercolor Day’ is a sonic bouquet of delicious melodies, melt-in-your-mouth harmonies, warm butterscotch guitars that jangle and shine.”

The record’s title track, “Watercolor Day” is burning up radio at many top AC and college radio stations around the country, including 107.1 “The Peak” (WXPK-FM) in New York, 89.9 (KCRW-FM) in Los Angeles, among many other taste-making stations.

Swirsky, a modern day indie-pop genius spent years as a staff songwriter for EMI, writing a multitude of global hits for a variety of artists, including Taylor Dayne (“Tell it to My Heart”), Al Green (“Love is a Beautiful Thing”), Rufus Wainwright , Jane Weidlin of The Go-GosTina TurnerCeline Dion, Smokey Robinson and Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers) among many others. He has garnered more than 30 gold and platinum records and numerous ASCAP songwriting awards.

His first solo record, Instant Pleasure, was named Best Pop Album at the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards.
