San Diego-based rockers Taz Taylor Band (TTB) earn a 2011 San Diego Music Award nomination for ‘Best Hard Rock Album’ for their fourth studio effort, Big Dumb Rock. TTB stands out as the only band in the category to be recognized for a full-length instrumental guitar driven album.
“It’s an honor to be nominated for this award in our hometown because we usually get far more attention and credit overseas,” said Taylor. “San Diego has a thriving music scene and it is with great pride that we now finally feel a part of it.”
Nominated alongside six other local rock acts, TTB will contend for top honors at the 21st annual ceremony, to be held at Humphreys By The Bay on August 8. Tickets for the event are currently on sale and are available for purchase on the award show’s website.
In addition to the award show buzz, TTB is hot on the promotional circuit for their follow-up to 2009’s Straight Up. The band is currently preparing their next gig—opening up for legendary guitar virtuoso Pat Travers at the Ramona Mainstage in Ramona, Calif. on August 26.
