ETHEREAL INDIE ROCKER MAE EDWARDS RELEASES
‘HIEROGLYPHS OF EMOTION’ – THE SECOND DISC OF
FOUR IN HER AMBITIOUS ‘STARLETTE & SAINT’ SERIES –
TO ITUNES AND AMAZON mp3 APRIL 7
The Multi-Talented Performer Recently Received Her
First Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) Nomination
For “Anything Anymore” in The Adult Contemporary Category
Fresh off her first Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) nomination – for the song “Anything Anymore” in the Adult Contemporary category – multi-talented songwriter, performer and author Mae Edwards (www.maeedwards.com) will release her highly anticipated new full-length recording Hieroglyphs of Emotion to iTunes and Amazon mp3 on April 7.
Hieroglyphs of Emotion is the second disc in a four CD, 45 track year-long rollout of provocative, cutting edge music connected to an ambitious multi-media project that includes the ethereal indie rocker’s lushly illustrated hardcover book “Starlette & Saint: A Memoir on Dualism.”
The volume includes lyrics and chord charts for every song and beautiful spiritual prose commenting on them. Her commentaries reflect her years-long studies into numerous spiritual traditions (Christianity, Buddhism) as well as thought provoking references to world history, psychology, folklore, U.S. travel destinations and popular film.
Released December 1, 2013, Edwards’ first disc in the series, No Prayers Could Ever Save Me From the Love You Never Gave Me, has received across the board critical praise. Devon Cathlin of Surf Rock Music described it as, “Pure shining brilliance – and, in this case, using both shining and brilliance is NOT a redundancy, but an understatement!”
Dee Long on Amazon.com raved, “This is a step by step journey into the lyrical wrangling of one, very talented woman, Mae Edwards. Paired with words of wisdom from some of the most peace driven, deep thinkers of our time and beyond, this peek into the creative process is a delight.”
Tony Pinizzotto of Edge On The Net has called the book, “. . . a strong multi-leveled Spiritual Rock . . . (and) a valid representation of the pendulum of spirituality we occur on a daily basis.”
As 2014 progresses, Edwards plans to release the next two discs in the series, Elements in Continuity/Essays On Parallelism (Disc 3) and finally, Grace (Disc 4).
Adding depth, gravitas and edge to fresh recordings of these pieces, she co-produced them with Johnny Karlsson, a onetime Swedish guitar wunderkind best known for his extensive work in TV, film and game music.
The tracks were later mixed by Eric Greedy, whose pop/rock resume includes everyone from Ringo Starr and Robbie Robertson to Barbra Streisand, Smashing Pumpkins and Kelly Clarkson.
“My life’s calling is to discover pathways of inner peace and fulfillment… to honor authenticity within our creative selves,” says Edwards. “This state of mind produces a joyful way of being which attracts abundance health and prosperity.”
The songs and book are also available digitally, with musical tracks downloadable as mp3s from www.maeedwards.com, iTunes, Amazon and iTunes/Bookstore.
