FOLKIN’ HOT, PRO POT
MULTIPLE AWARD-WINNING SINGER/SONGWRITER
ELLEN BUKSTEL
DECRIES THE HYPOCRISY AND FEARMONGERING IN
THE TV AND PRINT ADS AGAINST FLORIDA’S
RIGHT TO MEDICAL MARIJUANA INITIATIVE –
AND SUPPORTS FREEDOM AND CHOICE!
Southwest Ranch, Florida – With the vote on Amendment 2 – the Florida Right to Medical Marijuana Initiative – just a few weeks away, the battle of the media ads between those who support it and those opposed, is in full swing.
In light of a September poll which showed that a whopping 88 percent of Floridians support medical marijuana, the “No On 2” crowd is getting aggressive with their advertising.
Fired up, fed up and folkin’ hot singer/songwriter Ellen Bukstel (www.ellenbukstel.com) decries the opposition’s ads as “pandering, fear-mongering folly – deceptive attempts to fool people into giving up their freedom and choice in alternative ways to seek medical treatment.”
One current print ad suggests that legalizing marijuana used for people with seizure disorders would lead to “date rape by pot cookies.”
A new TV commercial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ilw6iYOyc9s) shows a female doctor walking down a hospital hall touting her prescription pad and decrying Amendment 2 as a “trick.” Bukstel comments, “It’s absurd to see this doctor proudly waving her prescription pad in the air like a badge of courage and conviction to ‘keep on’ medicating with ONLY prescription drugs that are FDA approved – and potentially deadly!”
“The hypocrisy is so thick, it’s disgusting,” she continues. “Alcohol and FDA approved prescription drugs that are commonly used as so called ‘date-rape’ drugs are perfectly legal. The ‘Vote No On 2’ ads illustrate the organization’s complete ignorance of the truth about cannabis.”
Ellen was on the case long before Amendment 2 was an issue, before the voters of Florida with her biting and incisive song and provocative music video “Who’s The Pusher Now?”
The incendiary song was nominated for a 2013 Hollywood Music In Media Award (HMMA) in the Music Genre category, and the video is currently nominated in for a 2014 HMMA in the Music in Visual Media.
“Who’s The Pusher Now?” was also a nominee for the 2014 Libby Award for Best Music Video, while the song was a finalist in the 2014 International Acoustic Music Awards.
