PACKS THE GREEK THEATRE ON AUGUST 3RD ON
‘HEART DAY IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES’

Mayor James K. Hahn proclaimed Sunday, August 3, 2003 as “HEART Day in the City of Los Angeles.” Also on August 3rd Ann and Nancy Wilson brought their rock supergroup HEART to the Greek Theatre and packed the rockin’ venue. Musician/actor Billy Bob Thornton with his band was special guest opener for the concert. Attending the concert and/or the afterparty at the Greek’s Zeus Bar & Grill was a bevy of HEART’s friends and family including Nancy Wilson’s husband Cameron Crowe, Colin Farrell, Rosanna Arquette, Carnie Wilson, TV producer George Schlatter, Elisha Cuthbert of “24,” Charlotte Caffey and Jane Weidlin of The GoGos, Kelly Lynch and Lauren Graham of “The Gilmore Girls.” The HEART DAY proclamations were presented to the Wilson sisters at the after-party by Greek Theatre executives Mike Garcia, General Manager and Denise Minatoya, Operations Manager [see photo identification attached].

Sony Music Entertainment has recently captured HEART’s signature sound with its new multi-channel Super Audio CD (SACD) hybrid. The band’s two-CD collection, Alive in Seattle, available on Epic/Legacy Records, is among the first to contain this ultimate form of sonic purity, boasting a high definition SACD stereo track, as well as a discreet 5.1 surround sound track. In addition, Image Entertainment has released the DVD version of “Alive In Seattle.” Additionally, HEART are just wrapping up their “Alive in America” summer tour in support of the new CD and DVD. HEART is comprised of the Wilson sisters and an all-star band including former Ozzy Osbourne and Alice In Chains bass player Mike Inez, Guns n’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, Lovemongers drummer Ben Smith, and keyboardist for the Wondermints and Brian Wilson, Darian Sahanaja.

Mayor James K. Hahn has proclaimed Sunday, August 3, 2003 as “HEART Day in the City of Los Angeles.” Also on August 3rd Ann and Nancy Wilson are bringing their rock supergroup HEART to the Greek Theatre with musician/actor Billy Bob Thornton’s band as their special guest opener for the concert.

Mayor Hahn’s proclamation pays tribute to Ann and Nancy of HEART for “continuing to create and perform outstanding music, bringing humanity to rock music with their class, concern and beauty, and that they remind us all of the vast possibilities of women in rock with their many unforgettable achievements [see official proclamation attached].”

There is no mistaking HEART with their 30 million albums sold, 21 Top 40 hits like “Magic Man” or “These Dreams,” or covers such as Led Zeppelin’s “Battle of Evermore,” or new originals “Heaven,” and “Sister Wild Rose,” it just doesn’t get any better than rockin’ sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson’s soaring vocals and searing guitars.

HEART is very much alive in 2003. Ann & Nancy Wilson and of the rock supergroup HEART will perform “Dog and Butterfly,” on the CBS Network’s “THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG KILBORN” on Thursday, July 31th.

The Wilsons are on a promotional mega-blitz for their new Alive In Seattle DVD (Image Entertainment) and CD of the same title that is also a Super Audio format hybrid (Epic/Legacy Records) that was just released. HEART is also garnering rave reviews on the road this summer for their “Alive In America” concert tour running though early August. Ann and Nancy have recruited an all star band to comprise HEART including, Mike Inez (Alice In Chains, Ozzy) on bass, Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses) on guitar, Ben Smith (Lovemongers) on drums and Darian Sahanaja (Wondermints, Brian Wilson) on keyboards.

As soon as HEART returns from the tour they will enter the studio to begin work on their much anticipated next studio album with the same band lineup, who will be, needless to say, ticking like a Rolex watch from performing together all summer.

DEANA CARTER OPENING SET GETS AUDIENCE ON THEIR FEET;
SPECIAL IMPROMTU DUET PERFORMANCE OF “WILD HORSES” WITH HEART MAKES MUSIC HISTORY

NASHVILLE, TN: HEART burst successfully on the rock music scene 25 years ago and has influenced generations of musicians and singers ever since. Led by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, Heart continues to create and perform outstanding music, as proven by their powerful performance at Music City’s Amsouth Amphitheatre on Saturday June 28th. Heart is on tour around America in support of their newly released HEART: Alive In Seattle DVD (Image Entertainment) and CD/SACD (Epic Legacy).

Nashville native, Deana Carter, and her band took a break from the Kenny Chesney/Keith Urban “Margaritas ‘n’ Senoritas” tour to open the Heart show with an hour of music. She performed songs from her debut Arista Nashville album, I’m Just a Girl, as well as many of her Top 10 hits including “Strawberry Wine,” and “We Danced Anyway.” Carter described playing on the same stage as Heart as an experience she’s wanted all her musical life.

When Ann and Nancy Wilson and the superstar players comprising Heart 2003 (including Gilby Clark of Guns’n’Roses, Mike Inez of Alice in Chains/Ozzy Osbourne, Darian Sahanaja of Wondermints/Brian Wilson, and Seattle session drummer Ben Smith) took the stage, the night became a rock fan’s delight. In mid-set, Deana Carter was invited back on stage to join the dynamic Wilson sisters in a once-in-a-career rendition of the Rolling Stones’ classic, “Wild Horses.” Their impromptu performance brought roars of approval from the crowd of more than 9,000.

Backstage after the concert, the achievements of Heart were recognized in a private presentation where Deana Carter presented a proclamation given to Heart by Nashville’s Mayor Bill Purcell. Deana read the touching proclamation out loud to family members and friends, including Wynonna Judd and Nancy’s husband, filmmaker Cameron Crowe.

The proclamation reads:

Whereas, “Heart” will perform in Nashville on June 28, 2003; and

Whereas, “Heart” was formed by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson in 1973 and continues to be an inspiration; and

Whereas, “Heart” reminds us of the vast possibilities for women with their unforgettable achievements; and

Whereas, “Heart” brings humanity to music with class, concern and beauty and where there’s heart, there’s hope.

Now, therefore I, Bill Purcell, Mayor of the Metropolitan
Government of Nashville and Davidson County, do hereby recognize “Heart”
