AIR SUPPLY’S GRAHAM RUSSELL HOSTS

‘AIRHEADS FAN DAY’ WITH AN EXCLUSIVE AFTERSHOW

MEET & GREET FOLLOWING THE PERFORMANCE OF

‘DEVIL AND THE DEEP’ AT

THEATRE 3 IN NYC SUNDAY, JUNE 14

NEW YORK, N.Y. Graham Russell, one half of the legendary pop hit-making duo Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com), is hosting a special “Airheads Fan Day” to celebrate “Devil and the Deep,” a fresh, bold new musical reimagining of “Treasure Island” he co-wrote with Katie McGhie (music and lyrics) and Melissa Bell (book and additional lyrics).

On Sunday, June 14, after the 3 p.m. performance of the show, Russell will host a special reception for fans that includes a meet and greet with him and McGhie, who also perform collectively as the duo Of Eden.

Produced by Theatre East, the world premiere of “Devil and the Deep” is June 11 (Graham Russell’s birthday) at Theater 3, located at 311 W43rd St. 3rd Floor, NYCLisa Devine will direct. After its initial run June 11-27, the producers will seek a larger venue for a longer run. Previews begin June 6.

The show is being billed as a presentation designed “for families and anyone who’s ever dreamed of sailing away to adventure!”

Set in the mid-18th century, the musical follows Jim Hawkins from poverty-stricken Bristol, England, all the way to Caribbean Islands as he embarks on a journey that will change his life forever. A boy who dreamed of adventure will be faced with lurking danger, betrayal, and grave choices. The show examines the parallel desires of Jim and the infamous Long John Silver and the paths they choose to take.

Theatre East began talks with Bell about this ambitious project in early 2013. Bell asked Russell to contribute a few songs and, as Russell says, “it started to open up into something much larger.”

“The challenge,” he adds, “was to write not just great songs but ones that people will be singing years from now. I’m really proud of the work we did and believe that these tunes would stand on their own merit even if they were not an integral part of telling this great story.”

Russell and his Air Supply partner Russell Hitchcock, are currently celebrating the band’s 40th Anniversary with another busy year of global touring that includes dates throughout the U.S., Canada and the rest of the world.
