AIR SUPPLY SIGNS NEW LABEL
DEAL WITH LAS VEGAS BASED
ODDS ON RECORDS!
The Independent Label, Which Is Distributed
By E1 Music (Formerly Koch), Will Release
The Globetrotting 80s Hitmaking
Duo’s First Commercially Released Album
In Almost A Decade In 2010
As reported this week exclusively by Gail Mitchell of Billboard, Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock—known the world over as 80s hitmaking duo Air Supply (www.airsupply-online.com)—have signed a label deal with Las Vegas based independent label Odds On Records.
Distributed by E1 Music (formerly Koch) and headed by former Warner Bros. marketing and promotion executive Ted Joseph, the full-service company (www.oddsonrecordings.com) plans to release a new Air Supply studio album in 2010.
The timing of their first commercial release in nearly a decade coincides perfectly with the group’s 35th anniversary next year.
Not that the world ever stopped celebrating the soft rock gurus of romance. Over two decades after dominating the pop charts with romantic perennials like “All Out of Love,” “The One That You Love,” “Lost In Love” and “Making Love Out of Nothing At All,” Russell and Hitchcock have never been more popular, averaging 120-140 concerts annually.
Having wrapped an incredible 2008 a special December 19 appearance on the Fox TV hit “Don’t Forget The Lyrics,” their itinerary in 2009 includes many U.S. cities between jaunts to Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Antigua, Venezuela, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
In May, they head to Australia to perform for the first time with the Sydney Symphony.
Odds On has also licensed two indie Air Supply projects, and Free Love, which is scheduled for a late July release, and Singer and the Song, which is set for fall. The albums were previously sold at Air Supply shows and on the duo’s website.
Joseph first entertained the idea of signing Air Supply after catching a Las Vegas show last year. “I saw females from 17 to 77–and a lot of males–who knew the words to every hit,” he says.
Russell and Hitchcock will have carte blanche use of Odds On Records’ new multi-million dollar state of the art recording studio, which is run by Head of Audio Production and Development Bobby Ferrari.
Making things very convenient, the label’s Las Vegas offices and studio are approximately equidistant between Russell’s home near Salt Lake and Hitchcock’s residence in Los Angeles.

AIR SUPPLY’S
RUSSELL HITCHCOCK
FINALLY TAKES THE TIME!
Half Of The 80’s Hitmaking Duo Makes
His Long Lost 90’s Recording ‘Take Time’
Available To Fans For The First Time
After over 15 years, Air Supply’s Russell Hitchcock is finally ready to Take Time—making his long lost mid-90s solo recording available to fans for the first time via his website www.russellhitchcock.net.
Currently on the road with Graham Russell, the other half of the 80’s hitmaking duo, as another year of heavy U.S. and international touring gets rolling, the singer is very excited about the overwhelming response the 12-track collection has received since its early February release.
Fans from every continent and country Air Supply tours regularly are buying it and leaving positive comments—from Japan to Norway, Italy, Southeast Asia, England, the U.S.. and Australia, where he and Russell first hooked up in the mid-70s.
Take Time was produced by Air Supply’s onetime bassist Don Cromwell and features a mix of pop and rock songs written by him and Minneapolis based songwriter Rick Baron. The newly remixed and re-mastered version also includes a special bonus cut–a brand new recording of Hitchcock and his daughter, Sydney Rose Hitchcock, singing a duet of “Only Time Will Heal A Broken Heart,” whose original solo version is also on the release.
“I was very proud of the work Don and I did on Take Time,” says Hitchcock, “but because of my commitment to Air Supply and our constant recording and touring schedule over the years, it was easy to set it aside and let it slip away for a long time.
“We never formally released it,” he adds, “but recently some bootlegs started started popping up on Ebay, including one copy a fan was selling in Japan for $200! I approached Don with the idea of remixing and remastering, adding the new track with Sydney and a few other bits and pieces, and he was really excited to do it. Once I realized that these are all great songs that have held up well over time, I thought it would be a waste if we didn’t have the chance to share them with Air Supply fans. So it’s great to have that chance at last.”
Amidst another hectic touring schedule, Hitchcock and Russell are squeezing in recording sessions to put the finishing touches on their long awaited next Air Supply recording. Having wrapped an incredible 2008 a special December 19 appearance on the Fox TV hit “Don’t Forget The Lyrics,” hosted by singer and comic Wayne Brady, the group in 2009 will hit many cities in the U.S. in between jaunts to Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Antigua, Venezuela, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. In May, they are heading to Australia to perform shows for the first time with the Sydney Symphony..
AIR SUPPLY TO THE RESCUE!
Globetrotting 80’s Hitmaking Duo Launches 2009 With A Performance At The 18th Anniversary Stars To The Rescue Gala, Which Benefits St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa’s Animal Rescue Foundation
Air Supply’s 2008 Highlights Included Performing In Manila, Dinner With Imelda Marcos, Their First-Ever Performances in Israel And Performing “Lost in Love” On Fox’s Hit Show ‘Don’t Forget The Lyrics’
Nearly 30 years after Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com) first charmed the world with their ultra-romantic hit parade (“All Out Of Love,” “Lost In Love,” “The One That You Love,” “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All,” etc), Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock are gearing up for their most exciting year ever in 2009!
The 80s hitmaking duo launches their quickly filling calendar with a special performance on Saturday, January 10 at the 18th Anniversary Stars to the Rescue Gala in Walnut Creek, California. The event, an annual benefit for St. Louis Cardinal Manager Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), will be held at the Lesher Center For The Arts and is scheduled to feature appearances by Chris Isaak, Tony Orlando and Billy Bob Thornton.
Created by La Russa and his wife Elaine in 1991, ARF (www.arf.net) saves dogs and cats that have run out of time at public shelters and brings people and animals together to enrich each other’s lives. ARF strives to create a world where every loving dog and cat has a home, where every lonely person has a companion animal, and where children learn to care.
Following this appearance, Air Supply will hit the road for numerous concerts throughout the U.S. in winter and spring before performing in May in Sydney, Australia, where Russell and Hitchcock first met as members of the cast of “Jesus Christ Superstar” in 1975.
The duo finished an incredible 2008 with a special December 19 appearance on the Fox TV hit “Don’t Forget The Lyrics,” hosted by singer and comic Wayne Brady. In the episode, Russell and Hitchcock surprised a pair of contestants as well as Air Supply fans, who were also on a blind date, with a live performance of their hit song “Lost In Love.” They brought good luck to the contestants, who were big winners that night.
The rest of 2008 was filled with many other highlights and some all-time Air Supply firsts. Beyond their always exhilarating shows, their latest jaunt overseas (from early June through mid-July) had its share of transcendent, once in a lifetime moments. They had dinner with former Philippines First Lady Imelda Marcos; performed for the King and Queen of Malaysia; and had drinks with the U.S. ambassador to Singapore and her husband.
Air Supply also got to play a concert in the venue (Areneta Coliseum) where “The Thrilla In Manila”—the legendary 1975 boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier—took place. Later, after their first ever performance in Tel Aviv, they enjoyed the sacred dual experience of visiting the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem and appearing on Israel’s version of “Dancing With The Stars”!
Air Supply’s tour first brought them back to Asia for the first time in several years, where they played six cities in the Philippines, including a few they had never hit before: Cebu, Davao and Ilo Ilo.
