Pop Star Van Cam

Thousands of Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com) fans gathered for two packed concerts at the Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam October 9 and 10 as the 80’s hit making duo swooned the audience with their classic love songs. Among the massive crowd included famed international Vietnamese pop singer Van Cam who also produced 80′s hits.

Legendary soft-rockers Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock have been busy on the tour trail covering ground from multiple cities across North America to exotic destinations in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar and Vietnam.

Fans across Asia are also rejoicing with the recent news that their two recently released independent recordings, Free Love and The Singer and the Song, will now be available across the continent where the 80’s hit-makers continue to be a live concert sensation.

Odds On Records, the Las Vegas based indie label marketing these recordings in America, struck a deal with the G-pop company in Asia to license and distribute them in countries throughout the continent. G-pop is an international licensing/marketing and booking company with offices in Germany and Singapore, focusing on representing international artists and labels to sell their music to a network of major and independent record companies across the Asia Pacific region.

Air Supply is continuing their fall tour with new shows in Brazil, Mexico and the U.S. before heading back to perform in Australia where the iconic artists began their journey more than 30 years ago during their performances in the production Jesus Christ Superstar.

Thousands of Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com) fans across Asia will be happy to note that their two recently released independent recordings, Free Love and The Singer and the Song, will now be available across the continent where the 80’s hit-makers continue to be a live concert sensation.

Chadrick Yeo, Managing Director of G-pop, says, “Air Supply is an internationally renowned and well respected household brand name. We are very honored by this partnership and having Air Supply on board is a dream come true for us at G-pop.”

Speaking on behalf of himself and partner Graham Russell, Air Supply’s Russell Hitchcock says, “We love our fans in Asia and look forward to returning every year to perform for them. We’re excited that they now will have no problem getting copies of these new albums we are so proud of.”

Air Supply’s current overseas tour (www.airsupplymusic.com/tour.html) includes October dates in The Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. Proceeds from their October 3 concert at the Aranetta Coliseum in Quezon City/Manila will be contributed to an assistance fund for victims of the deadly flooding that occurred in the wake of Tropical Storm Ketsana, which hit the country September 26.  The effort was spearheaded by Rajah Broadcasting Network in the Philippines.

Graham Russell says, “We send out our prayers and best wishes to the people affected by this recent storm and are happy to do our part to give back to the citizens of a country that has always been so hospitable to us.”

AIR SUPPLY

A GIRL CALLED RUSSELL? BELIEVE IT!
THE PROMOTER OF THE 80’S HITMAKING DUO’S
UPCOMING ASIAN TOUR NAMES HIS DAUGHTER

AFTER RUSSELL (HITCHCOCK) AND (GRAHAM) RUSSELL

Danee Samonte, a longtime music industry fixture in The Philippines, is much more than just the promoter of Air Supply’s upcoming tour to exotic destinations in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. The man who used to be known under the DJ radio name ‘Steve O’Neal’ is such a big fan of the 80s hit-making duo that, gender notwithstanding, he named his daughter Russell after Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell.

More than two decades after dominating the pop charts with romantic perennials like “All Out of Love,” “The One That You Love,” “Lost In Love” and “Making Love Out of Nothing At All,” Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock of Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com) are still making fans fall in love all over again.

The duo is also making waves with the two recently released indie projects: Free Love and The Singer and the Song. The albums are licensed by Odds On Records, a Las-Vegas based independent label which Air Supply signed a deal with earlier this year. Distributed by E1 Music (formerly Koch) and headed by former Warner Bros. marketing and promotion executive Ted Joseph, the full-service company (www.oddsonrecording.com) plans to release a new Air Supply studio album in 2010, also the group’s 35th anniversary.
