AND THE BAND GEARS UP FOR THEIR NEXT PUNK CD,
DUE FEBRUARY 2011
Driven by the infectious musical intensity and wild antics of charismatic front woman Kimberly Freeman, the mega-popular punk band One-Eyed Doll (OED)—named the #1 rock band in Austin, TX by Reverb Nation—is setting major indie trends with a “pay what you want” approach to marketing that has sent sales for their new album Break skyward. Proving that a loyal fan base will support a band they love, OED has doubled their all-time downloads and physical purchases over the past two months.
This is just the latest coup for the explosive band, which swept the SXSW Music Awards two years in a row (2009-2010) in a wide array of categories—including Best Punk Band, Best New Band, Best Metal Band, Best Female Vocalist, Best Guitarist, and Best Drummer.
OED has appeared in Guitar World Magazine, toured nationally with their eye-popping and ear-bending performances, and has also found a devoted flock at major animation and gaming companies, such as popular online game AdvertureQuest and comic conventions like Dragon*Con and IKKiCON.
The band’s dynamic front woman keeps the momentum going, putting her punk rock vibe to an electro beat on an upcoming solo effort called Into Outer Space. Kimberly is creating a handful of exciting music videos for the project that will be directed by innovative Austin based production company NightRain Films. The album features guest appearances by drummer Martin Akins (Nine Inch Nails, Pigface) and Johnny Yong Bosh (an original Power Ranger TV character and Naruto voice actor), who sings with Kimberly on the Sci-Fi track “3009.”
Freeman and her cohort Junior are also gearing up for a punk-driven follow-up to the OED album Break. It will be One-Eyed Doll’s fourth studio release once again produced by SXSW award-winning producer Jason Rufuss Sewell. The first single “You’re A Vampire” slated for February 2011, will have a music video directed by the renowned Patrick Kendall, who has directed videos for such major artists as Megadeth and Incubus.
