EMERGING POP/ROCKER ANNIE BANY HAS A BLAST IN MIAMI

SHOOTING HER ‘PARADISE’ VIDEO WITH AWARD-WINNING

SLOVAKIAN DIRECTOR ROLAND WRANIK

MIAMI, FLA. - In a recent interview Annie Bany (www.anniebany.com) did with journalist Harriet Kaplan of Black on the Canvas(http://www.blackonthecanvas.com/interview-with-annie-bany/), the fast emerging pop/rock songstress and songwriter described her infectious music as “fun and youthful…upbeat, happy and sunshiny.”

The singer basked in plenty of sunshine and smiles in Miami, where she recently shot a video for her infectious, high-energy new single Paradisewith award-winning Slovakian music video director Roland Wranik.

The clip can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GeFB7SArFo

“Shooting with Annie in Miami was amazing. There were five people from my crew, everybody came from Slovakia. The video is focused on emotion of young girls how they enjoy their life,” said Wranik.

Annie recently posted on her Facebook page that Wrank’s dark, mystical video for the electronic hip-hop track “KONTRAFAKT” (produced by Maiky Beatz) won Best Video for his home country of Slovakia (www.youtube.com/watch?v=LReMcF9YwJM&feature=youtu.be).

On “Paradise,” which features a cool rap by CrooKid, she dreams: “We’re on our way to Paradise/We’re leavin’ this and landin’ in a dream/Like a lucky pair of dice…you’re winning when you’re crashing into me…so here we go…”

Paradise‘ paints the picture of my ‘happy place’ and perfect getaway,” Annie says. “This song was inspired by a time when I thought nothing was going my way. I was stressed out from school, the weather sucked, it was cold, and all I wanted to do was escape to my own private island. Think about the time when you throw your hands up and say ‘I need a vacation!’ That’s Paradise.”

The recently released track is available via iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/paradise-single/id972139689

Earlier this year, Annie released her debut single “Hot Lipz,” another trackcaptured her optimism, sense of romance and the fact that she thinks it’s cool for girls to be forward and go after what they want.

Penned by Annie with her co-producers Cody Falkosky and Ben Vredevelt, the infectious track hit digital outlets January 15. She is currently working on an album, set for tentative release in late spring or early summer.

ROCK GUITARIST TURNED FAITH-BASED MUSICIAN

CALEB QUAYE-

WHOM ERIC CLAPTON ONCE CALLED

‘THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER IN THE WORLD’ -

PERFORMS AT CATALINA JAZZ CLUB WITH HIS BAND,

THE FACULTY, APRIL 28

Quaye Is Subject of Crowdfunding Campaign

To Raise Funds To Complete His Documentary
‘A Voice Louder Than Rock’

LOS ANGELES - Once called “The Best Guitar Player in the World” by the legendary Eric Clapton, world-renowned guitarist Caleb Quaye(www.newworldmusic.org), along with his band, The Faculty will bring their infectious smooth jazz music to Catalina Jazz Club (6725 W Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028) on April 28.

The show starts at 8:30 p.m.; doors will open for dinner at 7 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling (323) 466-2210.

Caleb Quaye and the Faculty released their acclaimed debut album Out of the Blue in 2010. They followed this in 2011 with All The Way Live recorded live at Alva’s Showroom in San Pedro, Calif.

As a member of Elton John‘s band in the superstar’s early years and in his pop heyday circa 1975-76, Quaye toured the globe and performed in front of crowds of more than 50,000, including a legendary concert at Dodger Stadium in 1975. In the late ’70s, Quaye worked similar electric magic for the famed duo, Hall & Oates.

Quaye has a new endeavor on the horizon-a documentary titled ”A Voice Louder Than Rock” based on “A Voice Louder Than Rock & Roll,” the popular 2006 autobiography by Quaye the spiritually and geographically well-traveled musician. Quaye wrote the book that the film is based on with Dale A. Berryhill.

GloRoc Productions is launching a dynamic crowd-funding campaign to raise funds for the completion of the project. While the production team has finished 49 percent of the project on essentially no budget, GloRoc is seeking a total of $100,000 between campaigns on FaithLauncher.com and Gofundme.com. The extra funds will go towards finishing primary photography, editing, post-production and travel expenses related to overseas travel for more artist interviews that will help flesh out Quaye’s extraordinary story. The sites are administered by his nephew Darius Carlo, who masterminded the campaign, and multiple Emmy award-winning producer Valerie J. Tucker, his manager and head of GloRoc Productions, who is producing the film.

A powerful “Rags to Riches to Rags to Redemption” story with built in appeal to rock fans and faith based audiences alike, “A Voice Louder Than Rock” chronicles Quaye’s journey from being a legendary rock sideman throughout the ’70s with greats like Elton John and Hall & Oates to launching a very different, even more vibrant life in ministry, overseeing the worship ministries at the prominent Foursquare Church called The Church on the Wayin Van Nuys, Calif. (where he was first baptized) and traveling and speaking throughout the country.

The doc includes vintage clips of his father, British-born singer, multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Cab Kaye, who worked with jazz legends likeCharlie Parker, Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie. It also features interviews with famed Genesis drummer Chester Thompson, Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King (co-writer of “Sweet Home Alabama”), Memphisblues guitarist Buddy Davis, longtime EJ guitarist and musical director Davey Johnstone, engineer Stuart Epps, string arranger Paul Buckmaster and Dr. Jack HayfordFounding Pastor of The Church on the Way.

Biography

Date: 04/08/2015 Print This Post

Growing up in a bi-coastal family, Dr. Mona Vand‘s parents could see from an early age that she had a deep passion for science and helping people – something she’s now taking to an exciting global level with the launch of her multi-faceted health and wellness website and web series, centered around her passion as The Modern Pharmacist.

Dr. Mona Vand attended the prestigious Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

“Pharmaceutical science approaches health from so many different angles. I knew almost immediately that I could accomplish the goals I am passionate about with a pharmacy degree. Having the ability to work with people, understand how chemicals work in the body, and one day work to develop my own health and wellness products was something I strived for,” says Dr. Mona. “Once I was in school, I loved learning the science of different medicines, how they work and how the body reacts to them. I also became excited about nutrition, which is a very large aspect of overall wellness. I always wondered if there would be a way to combine everything I was interested in and share it with people in a meaningful way. There’s a natural connection between pharmaceuticals and overall wellness, and I’m really excited to start connecting the two.”

Now, as The Modern Pharmacist, the beautiful and charismatic media entrepreneur is doing just that, combining her extensive expertise in pharmacy with her deep interest and expertise in nutrition, beauty, fitness and overall wellness. In addition to putting a fresh new face on the traditional world of pharmacy, Dr. Mona’s soon-to-launch website – and the ambitious slate of multi-media platforms to follow – uniquely positions her as the Dr. Oz andRachel Ray of The Modern Pharmacist movement, whose mission is to help patients understand the connection between pharmaceutical science and overall wellness.

Conceived by and featuring all exclusive content by Dr. Mona, The Modern Pharmacist website – which has earned the sponsorship of Opus Rx, one of the country’s largest compounding pharmacy organizations – showcases her as the “go to” person for all types of health and wellness questions.

While Dr. Mona’s intense six years of pharmacy school and many years of professional experience as a Compounding Pharmacist in Los Angeles leaves her with a wealth of information to share, she points out that she’s also just a normal woman who wants to help people in a relatable way. “I’m a professional who is excited about sharing my knowledge with the world,” she says.

“People with important questions about medicine and other wellness topics don’t always have access to someone with my kind of diverse expertise who can help them,” Dr. Mona adds. “Anyone who knows me is aware that I could talk forever about health, wellness and medication, and I have always found it rewarding to counsel people who need help or want a deeper knowledge of things to better take control of their health.

Dr. Mona’s road to becoming The Modern Pharmacist has found her at a crossroads of tradition and ambition. After graduating as a Doctor of Pharmacy, she settled in L.A. and worked first as a retail pharmacist before switching to a clinical pharmacy where she specialized in compounding – a fast growing part of the field that allows pharmacists to create customized strengths, combine ingredients, compound a tablet or capsule into a liquid, eliminate preservatives and prepare special formulations.

“All of this is driven by my passion for so many things,” says Dr. Mona. “Just like someone who is into cars who wants to talk about them all day long, I love to talk about wellness and medicine – and I am lucky to have chosen a profession that allows me to do that. When you love something, you want to share it, just like when something exciting happens in your life and you want to post the moment on Facebook. I have so much information that I want people to know and I want to be that trusted resource they can turn to for answers, insights and compassion. It’s a proven fact that when people go to doctor’s offices, their blood pressure goes up because of anxiety, or what we in the industry call ‘white coat syndrome.’ I’ve been wearing the white pharmacist coat for a long time, but I’m here to put people at ease and show that there’s nothing to be nervous about. I’m here to help!”

AIR SUPPLY’S GRAHAM RUSSELL’S WORLD PREMIERE

STAGE MUSICAL ‘DEVIL AND THE DEEP,’

A RE-IMAGINING OF ‘TREASURE ISLAND’ FEATURING

A MUSICAL SCORE WRITTEN OR CO-WRITTEN

BY THE VETERAN POP STAR

The Show, Featuring a Book by Melissa Bell and Songs By

Russell and Katie McGhie, Premieres in June 2015 at Theatre 3 in NYC

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Currently celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Air Supply (www.airsupplymusic.com), his multi-decade hit making duo with Russell HitchcockGraham Russell now ventures into exciting new creative waters, writing or co-writing a musical score for “Devil and The Deep,” a fresh, bold musical reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson‘s classic “Treasure Island.”

Russell, a recent inductee into the Australian Music (ARIA) Hall of Fame, wrote the first song for the musical, the sweeping “Sail Away,” himself and the other pieces with Katie McGhie, his partner in the popular acoustic duo Of Eden. The book for “Devil and The Deep” was written by Melissa Bell, whose plays and librettos have been presented at Theatre East, the Triad Theatre, The Snapple Theatre, the Abingdon Theatre and TheatreLab in New York City.

Theatre East will be producing the highly-anticipated musical adaptation, which is scheduled for its world premiere in June 11, 2015 (Russell’s birthday) at Theater 3 on 43rd Street and 8th Avenue in NYC. Lisa Devine will direct. After its initial run, the producers will be seeking a larger venue for a longer run.

Set in the mid-18th century, the musical follows Jim Hawkins from poverty-stricken Bristol, England, all the way to Caribbean Islands as he embarks on a journey that will change his life forever. A boy who dreamed of adventure will be faced with lurking danger, betrayal, and grave choices that will, in turn, lead him to manhood. The show examines the parallel desires of Jim and the infamous Long John Silver and the paths they choose to take as they discover the true meaning of treasure.

Theatre East began talks with playwright Melissa Bell about this ambitious project in early 2013 as a straight play adaptation. Bell then asked Russell to contribute a few songs and, as Russell says, “it started to open up into something much larger.” After he penned “Sail Away,” a song that finds Jim fantasizing about life at sea, he invited McGhie to co-write “Be Who You Must Be” and “Gentlemen of Fortune.” The presentation was subsequently re-conceptualized as a full blown musical.

“Every time I spoke to Melissa, she loved the songs so much that she thought it was only natural that we open it up more and incorporate more and more music,” says Russell, who is concurrently engaged in a full slate of domestic and international touring with Air Supply throughout 2015 and beyond. “She appreciated the way Katie and I saw the characters as slightly different people than she saw them. So we got busy writing other songs. Katie likewise brought a fresh, distinctively female perspective to the characters that might have never occurred to me.

“The challenge,” he adds, “was to write not just good songs but great ones, because you can’t fill a musical of this caliber with anything less than hits that are cool and memorable, not only onstage, but that people will be singing years from now. I am really proud of the work we did and believe that these tunes would stand on their own merit even if they were not an integral part of telling this great story.”
