CD RELEASE SHOW FOR ROOTS ROCKER
MATTHEW PATRICK’S YARD SALE DOUBLES
AS FUNDRAISER FOR MI REFUGIO, A CHILDREN’S
MINISTRY HE HAS WORKED WITH IN GUATEMALA

The Singer/Songwriter Is Set To Headline at The
Main Cup in Middletown, MD Saturday, February 1

Maryland-based roots rocker Matthew Patrick will celebrate the release of his eclectic new EP Yard Sale with a highly anticipated show that will raise money for a charity dear to his heart: Mi Refugio, which ministers to the needs of impoverished children living in and around the Guatemala City garbage dump and in the villages surrounding San Pedro, Sacatepéquez.

The critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter’s EP release party is set for Saturday, February 1 at The Main Cup (14 W Main St.) in Middletown, MD at 8:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $10 and will include a free copy of the EP.

Accredited by the Guatemalan government, Mi Refugio – founded by Kari Engen of Rockville, Md. – is a non-denominational ministry which provides free education (pre-school through high school), food, clothing, and medical assistance to these children.

“I have traveled to San Pedro de Sacatepéquez twice as a part of a mission team from Brook Hill United Methodist Church in Frederick,” says Patrick. “I was the leader of the medical team both times. We stayed at the Mi Refugio school and traveled with medical supplies to the neighborhood in/around the Guatemala City Dump and to small villages surrounding the school. We were providing primary care services and saw hundreds of patients of all ages.  Most of the people in these areas are indigenous people as opposed to those of Spanish descent in the wealthier parts of the country.”

While still playing regularly with his electric blues outfit Muskrat Sally before wildly eclectic audiences at JoJo’s Tap House in Frederick, the anesthesiologist by day, singer and slide guitar master by night has been making major inroads as a solo artist these past few years.

His 2013 full-length debut album Blue Sun, whose vibe Patrick playfully described as “redneck reggae,” received numerous rave reviews – and various tracks from the collection played on over 50 college radio and NPR stations throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Patrick is releasing Yard Sale in January and will be releasing a follow-up EP, its “sequel,” in May. Yard Sale will be promoted to Triple AAA radio by Peter Hay of Twin Vision.
