AND KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE SUNDAY, JANUARY 9

Lola Spriggs
is ringing in the chilly New Year by singing for her country!

The Ottawa based pop singer-songwriter will be performing the Canadian National Anthem at the Navan Memorial Arena in celebration of Navan’s 150th Anniversary and Kraft Hockeyville on Sunday, January 9 from 1-5:30 p.m.

Lola will kick off the event singing the National Anthem followed by a performance including music from her latest EP, Nobody But You at 4:30 p.m. Lola will donate all CD sales generated that day to a local special needs person. Local wine from Perrault Winery and Balderson cheeses will also be available from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. to also raise funds for a local family.

Lola recently followed her HMMA nods for Best Pop Song (“I Wanna Love You”) and Best Adult Contemporary/AAA Song (“Nobody But You”) with a prominent mention of “I Wanna Love You” in Peter Simpson’s The Big Beat List: 10 Local Songs From 2010, which was published in the Ottawa Citizen. Simpson praised the track’s effervescence and wrote that it could make the “Ottawa area single mom a pop star.”

“Nobody But You” also placed in the Top 100 on the USA FMQB’s AC 2010 Year End Chart, just ahead of superstars Uncle Kracker/Kid Rock, Michael Buble and Miley Cyrus.

Spriggs is urging all of those in attendance to “vote for Navan” in the Kraft Hockeyville competition. The past five years, thousands of Canadian communities have confirmed their powerful connection to hockey through the passionate involvement with Kraft Hockeyville.

Kraft Canada – together with the CBC, the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) – is, again, searching for Canada’s Kraft Hockeyville community, the one that best embodies the spirit of hockey and hometown pride.

Along with the hometown pride that comes with being crowned Kraft Hockeyville, the ultimate hockey community wins $100, 000 to upgrade their local arena, an NHL® pre-season hockey game and a CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast from their community.
