After the devastating 8.9 earthquake and tsunami that shook the Northern Coast of Japan on March 11, 2011, hard rock duo One-Eyed Doll(OED) is helping those in dire need of the recent tragic events through the power of music. In support of helping the people of Japan, lead vocalist and guitarist Kimberly Freeman posted a new single “Water Song,” for download at http://music.oneeyeddoll.com/track/water-song-tsunami-benefit outreaching to OED’s devoted fans and newcomers to “name your own price.” OED will give 100% of the download proceeds to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Effort.

“Water Song” was initially planned to be released on Freeman’s upcoming solo project, which is currently being produced by the other half of OED and drummer for the duo, JasonJuniorSewell. She wrote the track on stormy summer day in Texas, after massive triple thunderstorms hit the area on June 2, 2010, ironically the date of Freeman’s birthday. The thunderstorms helped Freeman to express some her most intimate and inspiring lyrics that touch on finding inner strength.

“I didn’t write this song about the recent disaster and it wasn’t meant to be released until the next ‘Kimberly Freeman’ album later this year,” the singer explained “… I just thought now would be a good time to release it with positive intentions and the possibility of raising some help and awareness for our Japanese fans.”

In other news, OED is taking on their home turf of Austin, Texas this week for 2011 South By South West(SXSW). One of the biggest and most influential film and music festivals in the U.S., OED was chosen among thousands of band submissions to perform on, not only on one, but two, of the city’s TV stations. First, the rockers will light up the studio stage at Austin Fox 7 on Monday, March 14 at 8:30 a.m. CT for Good Day Austin. Then on Wednesday, March 16 the duo will give another stunning acoustic performance for KXAN TV for the station’s Noon Show segment in support of “Water Song” Japanese benefit and their upcoming shows at SXSW.

In mainstream news, Freeman was recently shot by renowned photographer Matthew Rainwaters for her inside cover and feature for Revolver’s January/February 2011 issue, which named her one of the “Hottest Chicks In Hard Rock.” The outtake photos by Rainwaters, sky rocketed the magazine’s website traffic since it viral release in December 2010. Freeman will also be featured in Guitar Player Magazine’s April 2011 issue due to her talents as a female in hard rock and her electric guitar playing ability. That same talent, along with Sewell’s strong and creative production skills, caught the attention of legendary producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System Of A Down, Prince). Massy is now working with the band to produce the next OED project. The new OED album is slated for late 2011.
