The fresh sound and face of Texas native pop singer/songwriter Monica Matocha, who is making a splash on the U.S. Mediabase Pop radio charts with her infectious song “Impostor,” landed her on the cover of Southwest Flair Magazine’s March 2012 issue. The multitalented 20-year-old’s edgy sound propelled “Impostor” to #3 on the Independent Artists/New Releases radio chart within three months of the release. She also earned top honors for “Best Female Vocals” and “Best Pop Artist” at the Houston Press Music Awards in November 2011. Her debut album produced by John Glover (former artist signed to RCA under Ron Fair and Bruce Flohr) is expected to drop later this year.

Although her first love is music, Matocha’s lust for fashion is not only apparent with her rock-glam style, but she also designs innovative jewelry that adds extra spark to her performances. Monica even puts her faith into her handmade jewelry, turning the traditional rosary chic.

In addition to headlining at several clubs in the Houston area, she also performed a showcase at the Gibson Hit Factory in New York City—a venue where the Rolling Stones have performed.

At the start of her music career at age 13, Matocha joined a young pop group that caught the eye of Mathew Knowles of Music World Entertainment and the father of pop icon Beyoncé, who signed them in 2007. Today the young artist is emerging as a solo powerhouse singer/songwriter and trendsetter.
