The Band’s New Single and Title Track From ‘Coming Apart’
Is Inspired By The Story Of Kevin Hines Who Miraculously Survived Jumping From The Golden Gate Bridge
Dublin, Ireland’s indie rock band Friends Of Emmet (F.O.E) signed to innovative indie label 37 Records for a worldwide digital distribution deal to assist in debuting the band’s heartfelt project Coming Apart. On Thursday, September 16 F.O.E and 37 Records will celebrate the raved reviewed album at Los Angeles’ popular venue, The Viper Roomfrom 7:30-9 p.m. Guests who RSVP will receive a free F.O.E Coming Apart CD, plus the band will give a stellar 45 minute live performance. To RSVP for this spectacular event contact tasya@luckmedia.com. The first 20 guests, who RSVP to the Viper Room showcase, will also be invited to attend an intimate party for the band held at Swing House inL.A. on Thursday, September 23.
The title track to F.O.E’s album “Coming Apart” is a tribute to Kevin Hines, who attempted suicide at the age of 19 and survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. F.O.E felt strongly about Hines’ story and was passionate enough to create the song. Hines survived the suicide plunge from 245 feet above the water and is now an advocate for the building the bridge’s barriers or net prevention system, which will cost the city of San Francisco nearly 45-50 million dollars to create. Hines is a rare case of survival considering most jumpers die upon immediate impact, usually hitting the water at speeds in excess of 70 mph, which is often compared to hitting concrete. The few survivors of the impact either drown or die from hypothermia.
The music video released for “Coming Apart” features Hines, who watches over an emotionally depressed young woman contemplating suicide. The video is a powerful message showing the viewer an attempted suicide in hopes to give support to those who feel they have no way out. Hines will also be telling his story on CBS Sunday Morning comeSeptember 12, along with the CBS program showing F.O.E’s “Coming Apart” music video.
With all the suicide awareness F.O.E is creating, Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Save.org are supporting the band’s track “Coming Apart” and have added their own logos and help lines at the end of the music video to aid F.O.E.’s message. Yahoo.com is also showing the music video and a special taped acoustic performance by F.O.E that recently happened at Yahoo’s studios in Santa Monica.
