Before Heard Song By Legendary Motown

Direct from Las Vegas, where it continues to enjoy performances at the Sahara Hotel & Casino, “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show” has been gaining rave reviews and an unbroken string of standing ovations since its recent debut at the San Francisco’s Marines Memorial Theatre (609 Sutter St., 2nd floor). The show, which recently launched a National Tour celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Original Rat Pack, has been extended—by popular demand–through June 2010 for weekend performances.

The current show schedule, with performances Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 & 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., runs through May 23. The new schedule begins Friday, May 28 (Memorial Day Weekend) and will run through the end of June. Please visit marinesmemorialtheatre.com for an updated show schedule.

Don Sanchez of ABC7 in San Francisco (KGO-TV) recently interviewed Sandy Hackett regarding the spot-on rendition of the infamous Rat Pack in which he stars as Joey Bishop. Click here to view the segment.

Receiving several spontaneous standing ovations throughout the opening weekend performances, the show included Rat Pack favorites “Luck Be A Lady,” “For Once in My Life,” “My Way” and “Mack the Knife” in addition to an exciting new showstopper, “Will I Still Be Me?” sung by Doug Starks as Sammy Davis, Jr. “Opening night was almost a sellout. The theater was about 98 percent filled and the audience got their money’s worth. This is one production I plan to see again…” writes Al Graichen of StarkSilverCreek.com.

The cast portrayals earned praise from Pat Craig of the Contra Costa Times who commented, “(Sandy Hackett’s) Rat Pack Show’ effortlessly captures Sinatra, Martin and Davis.” Craig continues, “An extremely strong and hugely entertaining show…with a remarkable band.”

The brilliant “Will I Still Be Me?” is a never before heard song penned by the late Motown songwriter Ron Miller, which was recently discovered by his daughter, Lisa Dawn Miller, co-star and producer of the show with Hackett. Another highlight and overwhelming audience favorite, is Ron Miller’s “Wasn’t I A Good Time?” performed by Lisa Dawn Miller as “Frank’s One Love” and David DeCosta as Frank Sinatra. Sandy Hackett is the son of the late, great comedian Buddy Hackett. Ron Miller is also the writer of the standard “For Once In My Life,” one of the most recorded songs in history.
Albert Goodwyn of the San Francisco Examiner also recently gave the show his seal of approval. He comments, “A devilishly good show…The interpretations by the four actors capture the stage essences of the Pack members in a way that is eerily supernatural.”

Appropriately, the Marines Memorial Theatre is one of the few venues in San Francisco that allows patrons to bring a cocktail to their seat—to enjoy a drink, “Rat Pack” style while watching the show.

Marking a half century since the original Rat Pack’s legendary Las Vegas performances at the Sands Hotel, “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show” takes audiences on a journey back to the days of highballs, hi-jinks and happy hour with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Joey Bishop and Dean Martin. Directed by Billy Karl, “Sandy Hackett’s Rat” Pack Show stars Sandy Hackett as Joey Bishop, David DeCosta as Frank Sinatra, Doug Starks as Sammy Davis, Jr., Tony Basile as Dean Martin and Lisa Dawn Miller as ‘Frank’s One Love.’

Tickets range in price from $49 – $89 and are available now at the Marines Memorial Theatre box office, by phone at 415-771-6900 and on the web at marinesmemorialtheatre.com.
